Set the water to boil in a pan or wok and then add the tomatoes. Let the tomatoes cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Once the tomatoes are cooked, transfer them to ice water. Allow the tomatoes to cool down and then peel the skin.
Chop the tomatoes roughly and then grind them into a fine paste.
Place a large pan on medium heat. Add olive oil, garlic, and saute for a few seconds. Then add the tomato puree and strain it through a sieve.
Mix salt, pepper, oregano, and chili flakes. Cook for one minute. Add sugar and continue to cook it for another 5-6 minutes.
Mix hot water, basil, and salt. The amount of water you use can be adjusted to make your soup thicker or thinner. Cook the soup until thickened by adding cornstarch and water to it.
Mix in fresh cream.
Now your hot tomato soup can be prepared. Serve it hot with some croutons.
