Unsmoked Gammon, about 1.6kg 150g (5oz) light brown soft sugar
500ml (17 FL 0z), cider
2 bay leaves
10 peppercorns
How to make unsmoked gammon recipe
Place half of the sugar in the slow cooker. Then, add the gammon. The rest of the sugar can be rubbed over. Add the cider to the gammon.
Add the peppercorns and bay leaves to the gammon. Cover the slow cooker with a lid. Cook on high for 4 hours. Remove liquid from the slow cooker. Serve warm or cold with mash, greens, crusty bread, potato salad, or mustard.
Tip: You can also make the gammon delicious with a sticky glaze. Take off the fat layer from the gammon and brush it with 1 tbsp of each runny honey or wholegrain mustard. Cook for fifteenth twenty minutes in a preheated oven at 200degC/180degC mark 6.
