How to make mince pie recipes
Mrs nkdhiman is making conventional mincemeat in the Victorian kitchens of Audley End House. She’s made enough to last the entire Christmas season and you will use it to make some mince pies today. If you want to generate some yourself, storing it into sterilized jars will allow it to survive a very long time indeed!
Basic Ingredients for mince pie recipes
- 450g Ox Tongue
- 900g Raisins
- 900g Minced Apples
- 900g Suet (You Should Use shortening like a substitute)
- 1.1Kilogram Currants
- 450g Candied Peel
- Two Lemons
- Salt
- 2 Grated Nutmegs
- 1 tbsp Ginger
- 1tsp Pounded Mace
- 300ml Sherry (or even Madeira)
- 300ml Brandy
How to make mince pie recipes
Combine the Ox-tongue, suet, raisins, currants, apples, candied peel, and the rind and juice of boiled lemons, sugar, two pinches of salt, ginger, mace, nutmeg, sherry, and brandy into a big bowl or container. Give it a good mix until most of the ingredients have been combined. You can save your Mince-meat in sterilized jars, or make some mince pies like Mrs nkdhiman.
